The best Mighty Networks alternatives (September 2026)
Mighty Networks sells a branded, app-first community and charges accordingly. If the app is not the reason you are there, six platforms do the rest for less.

Mighty Networks has a clear pitch: your community, your brand, in a mobile app members open every day. For membership brands with a strong identity that is worth a lot. The plan ladder is wide, though. Launch is $79 a month with a 2% transaction fee, Scale is $179 with 1%, Growth runs $354 to $425 with 0.5%, and Mighty Pro is custom-priced. That spread is what sends people searching for a Mighty Networks alternative: they are not sure which tier they need, and the courses and events they actually use are available elsewhere for less. Prices below were verified June 2, 2026.
What Mighty Networks does well, and where it strains
Credit first. The mobile experience is among the best in the category, live events and the course feature are competent, and the platform has spent years on the feeling of belonging. If your members are on their phones and your brand matters to them, that is not a small thing.
The strain shows in two places. The learning tools are lighter than a real LMS: quizzes are basic, certificates are not verifiable, and progress tracking is designed for engagement rather than completion. And the transaction fee is uncapped at every tier, so at $20,000 a month in member revenue, Launch adds $400 to its $79 subscription and Scale adds $200 to $179. The cheaper monthly plan is not always the cheaper plan.
1. HiveLearn: the learning-first community platform
HiveLearn keeps the parts of Mighty Networks most course creators use, the feed, the events, the classroom, and replaces the learning layer with a full LMS. Quizzes across six question types, verifiable certificates, progress tracking, and an AI course builder that drafts a structured course from an outline. Events have RSVPs, ticketing, QR check-in and automatic reminders. Gamification with points, levels and leaderboards is native. Notifications can auto-post to Slack, Discord or Telegram.
Starter is $0 a month with a 6% revenue share, so there is no monthly fee until you monetize. Growth is $39 with 4% capped at $2,000 a month, Pro is $99 with 2% capped at $3,000, Scale is $249 with 1% capped at $4,000. All paid tiers start with a 14-day free trial and no credit card. At $20,000 a month, Pro is $99 plus $400, which is $499 against Mighty Launch's $479; the difference is that HiveLearn's share stops at the cap and Mighty's keeps growing. Math example, not a customer outcome. HiveLearn is a web app and installable on iOS and Android, not a branded app store listing, so if the branded app is your reason to be on Mighty, weigh that honestly.
2. Circle: the same model with a bigger enterprise motion
Circle is the closest peer. Professional is $89 a month with 2%, Business is $199 with 1%, Plus is custom at 0.5%. Spaces, events and live streams are strong, and the admin tooling suits larger teams. You do not escape uncapped transaction fees, and assessment is similarly limited. Choose Circle over Mighty when your community runs on desktop and you want more polished admin controls.
3. Skool: strip it back
Skool is the minimalist option. Hobby is $9 a month with a 10% transaction fee, Pro is $99 with 2.9% plus $0.30 and a 1% platform fee on individual sales over $899. One feed, one classroom, one calendar, and the best gamification in the category. There is no branded app, no spaces, no quizzes or certificates. It suits coaches with a paid group and a light course library.
4. Thinkific: for the course-first creator
If your Mighty Networks courses matter more than your Mighty Networks feed, Thinkific's LMS is the safer home. Basic is $49 a month with one community, Start is $99 with one community and ten spaces, Grow is $199, Expand is $499. There is no transaction fee with Thinkific Payments, and a 0.5% to 5% surcharge if you bring your own Stripe. Community and live events are thinner than Mighty's, so it is a trade in the other direction.
5. Kajabi: consolidate the marketing stack
Kajabi makes sense when you also want email marketing, funnels and a website in the same login. Basic is $179 a month for five products and 2,500 contacts, Growth is $249, Pro is $499. Its community module is lighter than Mighty's, and there is no branded app at the entry tier. Pick it for the marketing suite, not for the community.
6. Patreon: a perks layer, not a home
Creators with an existing audience sometimes downgrade to Patreon, which has no monthly plan and takes a flat 10% of income earned on the platform plus processing, currency conversion and payout fees. It has no native courses or events. It works as a tipping and perks layer, and it is expensive once revenue is meaningful: 10% of $8,000 a month is $800. Math example, not a customer outcome.
When to stay on Mighty Networks
Stay if the branded app is what your members love, if your revenue is modest enough that the transaction fee is a rounding error, and if your courses are light. Move if you have started selling assessed courses with certificates, if you want your share of revenue capped, or if the tier ladder has you paying for features you do not use. Before any switch, export your member list, rebuild the classroom first, test a real purchase, and keep both platforms live for a week of overlap.
Which Mighty Networks tier were you really on?
The tier ladder is the source of most confusion. Launch at $79 covers the core community, courses and events. Scale at $179 lowers the fee to 1% and adds more admin and analytics. Growth at $354 to $425 lowers it again to 0.5% and unlocks the branded app. Mighty Pro is the custom enterprise tier. Many creators are on Growth for the app and nothing else, which means the branded app is effectively costing them $175 to $246 a month over Scale before the fee difference. If you are one of them, the question is whether the app earns that back in retention. For some brands it does. For most course creators it does not, and that is the honest reason to compare alternatives.
A second look at the fee. At $8,000 a month in member revenue, Launch adds $160 and Scale adds $80, so the cheaper subscription costs $239 all-in and the more expensive one $259. At $15,000 the order flips: Launch is $379 and Scale is $329. Nothing caps either. Math example, not a customer outcome.
How to compare them in an afternoon
Take your last three months of revenue and member counts, run them through each platform's published pricing, and write the totals side by side. Then list the five features your members use most. Not the features you set up, the ones they use. For most communities that list is the feed, one or two courses, live calls, direct messages and a way to see who is active. Any platform that does those five well is a candidate; the rest of the feature list is tie-breakers. Finally, sign up for the free trials and post one real piece of content in each. The one that feels like your community after an hour is usually the right one.
